Shift: Days,40 hours/week 8a-430p (8 hours of call per week)
Requirements: Kentucky State License, National Certification/Registration, BLS. 2 years experience required, 5 years preferred.

Provides direct Occupational Therapy care/treatment to inpatients and outpatients of all ages according to institution, regulatory and professional standards including evaluating patients, planning and providing treatments and setting goals, reviewing progress to revise plan, while maintaining all necessary records related to the patient’s treatment.

Collaborates with physicians, teachers, nurses, discharge planners, and other disciplines to integrate Occupational Therapy into total healthcare program, schedule patients and exchange pertinent information as it relates to patient care.  Interacts with equipment companies to obtain equipment/supply needs.

Attends school system Admission and Release Committee meetings and Individualized Education Planning (IEP) meetings.  Participates in educational programs, inservice meetings and workshops. Travels as necessary to provide OT services completing necessary forms related to therapy.

Develops home programs and provides patient/family education as well as training/education of other personnel responsible for implementation of the program such as teachers, aides, early interventionist, etc.  Education programs will be given in verbal, written and demonstrative form and document these activities and patient understanding.  Special attention will be given to patient’s age or impairments of vision, hearing, mentation or mobility when providing any O.T. services

Provides necessary information/records, to the appropriate third party payers, lawyers, school systems, etc. as required.  Completes patient charges, obtains billing information, and reimbursement knowledge as necessary to be reimbursed correctly.  Contacts reimbursement source ie: insurance company to insure coverage of services and completes required forms for payment.  Maintains UP to date knowledge of codes, reimbursement  issues and corporate compliance.

Aids in scheduling assigned patient load and delegates assignments and supervises when appropriate secretarial staff, aides, technicians, students, and volunteers.  Evaluates and ensures competency of any of above staff on appropriate forms as requested by supervisor. 

Assists in overall operation of Occupational Therapy service by assisting in suggesting equipment purchase, participating in organization improvement activities , programs, policy development, implementing proper safety infection control policies and practices.

Performs other related duties as assigned which may include but not limited to assisting Manager/Director in productivity reports, organizational improvement activities, budgeting, form and program development, policy procedure review, serving on committees, and administrative projects.

Assists with orientation of new departmental staff members. 

Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.

Meets all departmental specific competencies.

Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.

Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.

Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

The ideal candidate would possess skills in using gonimoeter, dynamometers, cars, hand tools, heat guns, dictaphones. Skills in patient related software programs necessary and basic computer skills required. 

Kentucky State License, National Certification/Registration, BLS
