JOB SUMMARY:
Assists with/performing variety of Radiology diagnostic examinations to include fluoroscopy, interventional procedures under image guidance, facilitating inpatient and outpatient consultation and post procedural follow-up.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs venipuncture as required for exam. Measures and administers IV contrast and/or isotopes for procedure.
2. Reviews available lab results BUN/CREATININE and/or GFR to determine renal function.
3. Positions patient to obtain desired views and assists Radiologist with biopsy or drainage procedures.
4. Follows physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, and obtains optimal images for diagnosis
5. Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works
6. Operates 3D lab software to effectively format cardiac and vascular images to optimally demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
7. Sends new images and related prior studies to Night Hawk during afterhours operations for rapid preliminary interpretation.
8. Performs series of exposures as appropriate. Prints and develops films and combines with patient chart for Radiologist.
9. Prepares patient for exam by completing all questionnaires and other necessary documentation.
10. Educates patient and/or family on procedure to be performed. Checks prep and maintains patient exam, history, file, requisition and billing sheets.
11. Rotates call assignment as needed for 24-hour coverage; schedules patients in section and coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure patient flow.
12. Maintains and rotates supplies in assigned workstation and demonstrates cost efficient use of departmental resources.
13. Adheres to dress code.
14. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.
15. Meets all departmental specific competencies.
16. Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.
17. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.
18. Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
19. Performs any other duties as assigned or requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Good working knowledge of cross sectional anatomy, pathology, medical terminology, application software, contrast indications and contraindications. Ability to skillfully operate CT scanner and related patient support equipment is required. Adherence to established procedure protocols, working knowledge of all IR examinations, and exam preps.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
Graduation from and accredited Radiologic Technology program.
ARRT certification
Kentucky State Certification for Radiation.
BLS training is required
Travel Experience Required.
